Continuing Professional Development

We are committed to continuing education. UBC SEM provides a series of in-house rounds for our physicians and students. Note that these are not currently open to external physicians and individuals.

Our clinic offers an annual seminar series. To see current opportunities please check the UBC CPD website here.

HealtheSteps

The HealtheSteps® Program was designed by physician and scientist Dr. Robert Petrella and builds on the idea of “exercise as medicine”. Dr. Petrella and his team have spent over 10 years empirically testing and improving the HealtheSteps® Program.

HealtheSteps® is currently being delivered as a free, virtual or in-person, six-month healthy lifestyle program, providing adults (18+) with a specific plan of action to improve physical activity levels and reduce sedentary behaviour; increase exercise levels; improve eating habits; and improve mental wellbeing. The program also includes access to the HealtheSteps® smartphone app to help participants keep track of their progress with their goals.

Currently, HealtheSteps® is being delivered virtually to adults living in British Columbia and Ontario by medical and allied health students at the University of British Columbia and Western University. Patient and self-referrals to participate in the program are welcome!

Find details about the learning objectives, cost, description of activities, and registration form here. Upon completion and submission of the registration form you will be sent payment details to finish enrolment. This activity has been accredited for 12 Mainpro+ credits by UBC CPD.
